My mother and I had our bonding moments, but not like this. She taught me to sew, and I would snuggle up on her lap in the living room as she watched The Price is Right, Family Feud, and anything on the Food Network, she wrote.
She missed her mother and her home when she joined the Baylor Lady Bears. However, it was not a long distance. She declared for the WNBA draft after four great years in college. In the 2013 WNBA draft, she was chosen first overall by the Phoenix Mercury. As a result, she had to relocate to Phoenix, Arizona, for the first time.
Griner remarked that being separated from her mother was quite difficult for her. Her mother, she noted, has always been on her side.
