Halloween Ends Ending Explained: Does Evil Ever Truly Die?

Halloween Ends, the newest installment in Michael Myers terrifying narrative that has spanned decades and various timelines, has finally been released into the world for one more night of dread. The main issue heading into the film was whether he would be slain permanently this time. The iconic masked murderer has been shot, stabbed, blown apart, and even (apparently) beheaded in prior incarnations, only to return with scarcely a mark on him. However, with a title that contains the word ending, there was a sense that he could be genuinely gone for good this time.

If it wasnt previously evident, this article will now go through all of the possible spoilers for whether or not this happens in the end. As a result, if you havent previously watched the film, either come back after youve seen it or prepare to be immersed in all of the ending carnage of this (supposedly) final part.

First, some context for where things stand in relation to this current film. After being promised that evil will die tonight in the previous mistake that was Halloween Kills, Michael had fled, leaving everyone in the little hamlet of Haddonfield terrified that he was constantly lurking in the dark. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) had been waiting for his return for years since he first assaulted her decades before, although she spent the entirety of the previous film in a hospital while Michael wandered the streets.

In the films last scenes, he viciously murders her daughter Karen (Judy Greer). Laurie is now responsible for parenting Karens daughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) as both try to construct a new life free of terror. Of course, because this is a Halloween film, that wont last long.

Not Michael, but a new character to the series, is essential to this. The story picks up a year after the events of Halloween Kills, with Corey (Rohan Campbell) going to babysit for a local family, much like Laurie did all those years before. Instead of Michael intervening, it is Corey who mistakenly murders the little kid he is supposed to be guarding. The scene is horrifying, and as the film flashes forward four years later, we witness how it has irreversibly changed the lives of everyone involved.

According to Corey

He has been created as a scapegoat for the community and a new boogeyman because Michael has not been located. When Laurie assists him after he is tormented by local teenagers, she introduces him to her granddaughter, and the two form a friendship. For a long, the film focuses on this until Corey discovers a significant discovery. This sets him and the other characters on a collision path that will end in disaster.

Corey is pulled into an underground passage by none other than Michael himself after being thrown off a bridge by the same adolescents from earlier. He appears to have been hidden there for years and has become more reticent.

When the two lock eyes, a sequence of grisly pictures from the past flash before our eyes, as if they had developed some sort of telepathic link. This creates a new version of Corey who proceeds to murder people who have offended him.

He does so with Michael, and their collaboration appears to breathe fresh life into the original boogeyman. Laurie eventually realizes what is going on and attempts to keep her granddaughter away from Corey, who wants to go away with her. Allyson simply wants to live her own life and is resistant to any attempts to control her.

Following this, Corey splits from Michael and steals his mask before going on a rampage in Haddonfield. He then goes to Lauries house. She dupes him and then shoots him. It doesnt kill him, so Corey stabs himself in the neck to give the impression that she did. Allyson walks in at that exact time and is terrified by what she sees.

She abandons Laurie once more, and the real Michael enters the house. The two engage in a struggle to the death that leaves Michael stranded. Laurie had pinned each of his hands to the kitchen table with a knife and shoved the fridge down on him for good measure.

She then cuts into Michael to secure his death, but he makes one more grab at her. His hand is torn as a result, but he still holds Laurie in his clutches. Allyson then returns to assist her grandma, who assures Michaels death by continuing to chop away.

This is when the ending becomes truly crazy and outrageous in the most unexpected but finest way conceivable. The cops come and create a vehicle procession with Laurie and Allyson, who drive around town in a darkly humorous holiday parade with Michael tied to the roof of their car.

The further they go, the more others join them as they make their way to the local scrapyard with the intention of finally disposing of the murderer. The concept that Michael, even when he was not present, had generated such dread in the neighborhood that death was almost everywhere was woven throughout the plot. As a result, in order to finally get rid of him, the entire town gathers for some type of ritualistic cleansing that assures he will never return.

Taking no risks, they all arrive at the scrapyard with the intention of placing Michael directly into a metal crushing machine. Laurie climbs to the top of the machine and, with the audience watching, has the privilege of shoving her rival in. Michael is subsequently demolished in a wonderfully horrific way, making it the most comprehensive slaughter in any of the flicks to date. In the blink of an eye, he is literally crushed into mush. Michael will not be walking around anytime soon unless he is miraculously revived.

Obviously, there is always the possibility of resetting the timeline or continuing the story by some other means. There is little doubt that the movies could find a way to do it again, as they have done it several times before. However, setting everything aside for the moment, this conclusion is truly rather wonderful. Over a conceptual level, it addresses the unresolved ambitions of the previous film regarding Michaels tight grasp on the town.

In its decisive act of destruction, Halloween Ends boldly goes where no other film has gone before in terms of how the central murderer was eliminated. It is a darkly humorous and cathartic scene that could not be more appropriate for the conclusion. As the video concludes with Laurie finishing the memoir she had been writing and Allyson leaving home, there is a true feeling of completion.

As a result of Michaels bold destruction, everyone have been liberated from his reign of terror, and it is in these quieter times that it becomes evident that life may continue. In the end, Halloween Ends triumphantly went where no previous Halloween film has gone before.
