Dream Controversy: The Minecraft Community Is in Chaos Because You Tube Star Dream Keeps Getting Into Trouble.

Dream Controversy: It started when Kaceytron, whose real name is Kacey, who streams on Twitch, seemed to criticize Dream, which has 19.8 million subscribers and is one of the fastest-growing YouTube channels. His fans defended him and started bothering Kacey.

Then, Dream was accused of using a racial slur in a recently rediscovered video clip. Thursday night, the hashtag #dreamisoverparty was one of the most popular ones on Twitter.

In the middle of the trouble, Kacey, a Twitch streamer with 560,000 followers, spoke out against what she called a toxic culture that Minecraft superfans were spreading. There was a lot to keep track of, and the drama seems to still be going on. What you need to know is listed below.

Twitch Streamer Kaceytron Appeared to Accuse YouTube Star Dream of gay Baiting

On March 19, Kacey, who doesnt give her last name online, tweeted a joke about how some streamers get fired just for breathing, while famous ones have been known to gay bait in their content. Gay bait is defined by Urban Dictionary as a straight person who flirts with people of the same sex to boost their self-esteem and feel good about themselves.

The tweet seemed to be about streamers Dream and Tommy, who has been called queer baiters in the past for flirting with YouTuber GeorgeNotFound while they were live streaming.

Then, Kacey, who is 30, added to her tweet that her largely gay audience is f-ing sick of having their sexuality used as a punchline all the time. She erased the tweets within an hour, but Minecraft fans saved them.

After that tweet, Dream fans went back through Kaceytrons online content and found some controversial and rude comments that they didnt like. The streamers name was trending on Twitter, and thousands of Minecraft fans shared it. They said she was racist and homophobic.

People said in tweets that Kacey spoke AAVE or African American Vernacular English, and they found old videos of her that seemed to show her saying the N-word. One was from 2014, and the other was from a Halloween stream in 2020, where she sang along to Tech9s Hood Go Crazy. She said on Twitter that she didnt say the word in the Halloween clip.

There’s a clip of my surfacing where it SOUNDS like I am saying the N-Word. I FULLY understand that it SOUNDS like I am saying it. However, I am not. This isn’t the first time in twitch history someone has said something that started with an “N” and is misheard as the N-word.

Kacey talked about the other accusations and online content about her in a Google Doc that was posted on Twitter on Sunday. She said that the 2014 clip came from a viewer donation where they spelled things out phonetically and tricked me into saying the N-word and that AAVE can be used to belittle, mock, and hate black people, but I have never used it that way.

Dream Said He Did Not Condone any Kind of Disrespect Towards Kacey

Dream, who has the most subscribers on Minecraft YouTube and started the SMP server, seemed to respond to the negative comments about Kacey. In a tweet on Saturday, he said, Obviously, I dont support death threats, threats of any kind, or any kind of disrespect, and I call it out all the time in my community.

But Kacey kept getting hate on the Internet. She said on Twitter that she was doxxed, which means that private information about her was posted online and that fake private messages were sent to her to hurt her reputation.

Dream joined Kacey on her Twitch stream on Tuesday night. They talked about whats been going on. Dream said he didnt agree with the accounts that were said to have doxxed the streamer. He said that he contacted Kacey when he saw that her name was popular.

I didnt know what was going on. I just saw that your name was trending, so I replied to you. When I saw your replies to other people, I thought, Oh my gosh, this is going to get worse. At the end of the half-hour talk, Dream said. I think everyone needs to be more willing to not fight fire with fire. You could have responded better, but you dont deserve the hate and death threats that came your way.

Kacey Trolled Her Viewers, Which Is What Shes Become Known for

After the stream with Dream on Tuesday, Kacey put a video on her YouTube channel called my apology that got 130,000 views and over 24,000 dislikes in one day. But the video was a well-thought-out prank. It had sad music and clips from her streams, as well as hateful comments shes gotten. There was no apology in the video.

Kacey started streaming video games in 2013, but most of the time she played a character that was meant to upset her audience so that she could build her brand. She played games like League of Legends as badly as she could on purpose to make fans mad or annoyed. Even though she stopped pretending to be that person after a few years, trolling is still a big part of her brand.

In 2019, she and a group of other women streamers planned an event called the Slutstream to bring attention to the harassment female streamers face on Twitch. She was banned from Twitch in March 2020 because she made a joke about coronavirus and said, The world would be a better place without old and poor people.

Dream Was Then Accused of Using a Racial Slur Himself

In response to the bullying of Kacey, Dream was accused of using a racial slur. On Thursday night, a clip from a video that is no longer public appeared online. It showed a Minecraft account called Dream using the N-word. The video was shared on Reddit and Twitter, where it got attention from both people who dont like the Minecraft content creator and his fans.

It looked like the person who used the racial slur wasnt Dream, but someone who had that same Minecraft username in the past.

Just so people are aware, people are sharing a video of some random guy saying the n word and saying its me, as well as a random account with a gross name history and saying its mine.

Neither are me very clearly. People are disgusting.

The video got even more attention when Dream tweeted that the person in the video was not him. According to data from Google Trends, searches for Dream N-word skyrocketed right after the tweet.
