Twitter is jumping on the podcast bandwagon

Twitter appears to be working on incorporating podcasts into the site’s core experience.. App explorers like Alessando Plaluzzi and Jane Manchun Wong have lately posted images of the functionality, so we know this for a fact right now.

In the works: a podcast-specific area. Both the side menu and the bottom navigation icons are shown in the screenshots. The contents of those sections are unknown at this time.

A direct upload option for podcasters to Twitter is possible. Sections like these might be purely informational, with merely a link to a different service.

While working on Spaces, Twitter purchased Breaker, a social podcasting service. So may Twitter be trying to get into broadcasting in conjunction with the newly discovered feature?

There are already a lot of people that use it as their primary social networking platform. Longer podcasts might be added to Spaces’ audio chatroom functionality.

This would go nicely with Twitter’s upcoming long-form writing function, as well as its new revenue choices.

Twitter, on the other hand, will probably have an easier time monetizing podcasts for its own gain.

Twitter Podcasts would be a great advertising platform for companies looking to reach a large audience of podcast listeners.
