The seventh Mission: Impossible film will be titled Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, according to Cruise’s announcement. That’s why it will be renamed Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two for the 2024 sequel, which was formerly known as Mission: Impossible 8. July 14, 2023 and June 28, 2024, are the release dates for the two films, one each.

In addition to Cruise and Atwell, returning Mission: Impossible alums Rebecca Ferguson (Doctor Sleep), Simon Pegg (Ready Player One), Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction), Vanessa Kirby (Hobbs & Shaw), and Henry Czerny (Ready or Not) will appear, as will newcomers Shea Whigham (Joker), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Avengers: Infinity War), and Esai Moral

The success of the previous two films, both critically and commercially, prompted writer/director Christopher McQuarrie to sign a deal with the studio to write and direct the following two films in the series.

The Mission Impossible franchise has spanned nearly 25 years and six films, beginning with modest critical and commercial success in the first two films before launching its lead protagonist into grittier and more explosive stories, with each film receiving progressively better reviews than its predecessor, with the most recent instalment, Fallout, earning the highest reviews for both the franchise and the action genre, currently maintaining a 97 percent approval rating.
