JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4 IS ONE OF THE YEARS BEST OPENING WEEKENDS AT THE BOX OFFICE.

Long may the Baba Yaga reign, and may God bless her. And by reign, we mean kill villains who deserve it, ideally if they are portrayed by outstanding character actors and action movie stars. John Wick: Chapter 4 debuted at the top of the U.S. box office, with slightly more than $73 million in its opening weekend.

This is the highest opening of the franchise to date and the second-highest opening of the year, behind only Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantum Mania and Creed III. The former ranked sixth with $2.4 million and the latter ranked second with $10.4 million (its at $140 million after four weeks). This is so we dont have to recognize them further for no apparent reason.

Shazam!, last weeks notable winner, was a hit. Wrath Of The Gods slid to third place with $9.7 million (or $46.2 million after two weeks), followed by Scream VI with $8.4 million (or roughly $90 million after three weeks). 65 rounds out the top five, grossing $3 million in its third week and $27 million overall.

Cocaine Bear, Jesus Revolution, Champions, and Avatar: The Way Of Water remain in the bottom five as they have been for some time. They all earned over $1 million this week, and one of them has a net worth of nearly $680 million! Just outside of the top ten comes Zach Braffs A Good Person, which grossed $834,400 on 530 screens.
