Money Heist Korea Release Date: Netflix’s original series La Casa de Papel, or Money Heist in English, aired for five seasons before its scheduled end in December 2021. In the show, a ragtag crew of crooks committed two massive bank robberies, one at the Royal Mint of Spain and the other at the Bank of Spain. Fans around the world fell in love with the show’s recognizable theme tune and outfit designs.
Money Heist: Korea’s iconic heist garb gets a makeover in the game’s debut poster. Professor’s character was first teased in 2022 when Netflix issued a teaser title and cast announcement showing him selecting from a variety of masks.
Unlike the Spanish protagonists who donned Salvador Dali masks, the Korean heist squad will wear traditional Korean Hahoe masks instead.
There will be a similar storyline to the original, but one that is “set in a fictional Joint Economic Area, where the Korean Peninsula threatens reunification,” according to Netflix.
“Money Heist: Korea takes place when North and South Korea are on the cusp of peaceful reunification after nearly 80 years of division,” reads the series synopsis, according to Variety. However, a heist is organized as the nations prepare to create a new unified currency. For an audacious plan to steal the new currency straight out of the mint, an expert strategist known as “the Professor” has assembled a team of top-tier thieves from both north and south.
In the remake, Yoo Ji-tae will reprise his role as Professor, while Park Hae-soo, best known for his work on Squid Game, will reprise the role of Berlin. Other original characters returning include Tokyo (Jun Jong-seo), Moscow (Lee Won-jong), Denver (Kim Ji-hun), Nairobi (Jang Yoon-ju), Rio de Janeiro (Lee Hyun-woo), Helsinki (Ki-hoon) and Oslo ( (Lee Kyu-ho).
