The current Targaryen House of the Dragon plotline has been scheduled for a three or four-season run, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

True, the writers had the conclusion in mind from the beginning.

Whether or whether the series could be developed further than this premise remains to be seen. The Targaryens span both directions, said executive producer Miguel Sapochnik. This is a wonderful skeleton around which to build other stories and spinoffs.

Taking this into account, the producers may opt to increase the number of seasons or introduce a spin-off entirely.

It was confirmed in August of 2022, according to Deadline, that the show would be returning for a Second Season.
