Who is in the second season of Cruel Summer’s cast?
Cruel Summer will now be an anthology series, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which means we’ll follow a new cast of characters and solve a new mystery each season.
So, while we won’t know what happens to Jeanette and Kate after the dramatic season 1 end, we’ll get to see a fresh story unfold with new characters. This was a storyline twist we weren’t expecting, but at least Cruel Summer won’t have to leave us just yet!
Sadie Stanley, Griffin Gluck, KaDee Strickland, Lisa Yamada, and Sean Blakemore are among the new cast members for Cruel Summer season 2.
The Hollywood Reporter reported on April 27 that Lexi Underwood has been cast in the role of Isabella, replacing Eloise Payet. The part has been altered since the series’ first table read, according to the site.

Megan Landry, a computer coder and honor student from a blue-collar household, will be played by Sadie Stanley. She begins to “embrace her true self” after meeting Isabella.
Isabella, the “alluring and enigmatic” daughter of diplomats who spends a year as an exchange student with the Landry family, is played by Lexi Underwood. Megan’s lifelong best friend, Luke Chambers, who comes from a prominent family, is played by Griffin Gluck.
Debbie, Megan’s hardworking single mother, is played by KaDee Strickland, while Parker, a popular singer who becomes more cynical as the world around her takes a gloomy turn, is played by Lisa Yamada.
Sean Blakemore will portray the sheriff in the second season’s small town setting.
What will the second season of Cruel Summer be about?
Season 1 took place in the 1990s and featured Jeanette and her friends, Vince and Mallory, as they investigated the disappearance of Kate, the popular girl at their Skylin, Texas, high school. So, what can we expect from Season 2?
According to Deadline, another mystery will be set in the 2000s. The following is the official synopsis for the upcoming season:
The second chapter, set in a picturesque coastal village in the Pacific Northwest, examines the rise and demise of a close teenage friendship.
The season twists and turns as it follows Megan, Isabella, and Megan’s best friend Luke’s early friendship, the love triangle that evolved, and the mystery that would effect all of their lives moving forward.
Each episode, set in the imaginary town of Skylin, Texas, focuses on a single day across three years: 1993, 1994, and 1995. The story revolves around two adolescent girls: Kate Wallis is a prominent popular girl who vanishes one day at the hands of new vice principal Martin Harris.
After Kate goes away, Jeanette Turner, an awkward misfit, appears to take over her life. When Kate is discovered alive a year later, she accuses Jeanette of seeing her kidnapping but failing to report it, causing Jeanette to become America’s most disliked person.
As the genuine tragedy emerges, everyone scrambles to select sides through several lawsuits, destroyed families, friendships, and romances.

When will the second season of Cruel Summer premiere?
While the show received a swift renewal, the second season is still in the works. Season 2 is expected to broadcast in the fall of 2022 or the spring/summer of 2023, while no official release date has been announced by Freeform.
