In 1976, Williams got his first break as a caddy and quickly became a household name. The New Zealand Open was Peter Thomson’s bag man. When Thomas saw Williams, he was stunned.
Every school break, William would fly to Australia to caddy in various events. When he graduated from high school in 1979, he travelled to Europe to work as a caddy on the European Golf Tour.
