Kevin Samuels Controversial Statement: The Man Who Coined The Phrase “High-Value Man” Has Passed Away

“Kevin Samuels made a living insulting women and upholding restrictive gender stereotypes, and now you want us to take the high road when we learn he died?”

Controversial Kevin Samuels, a YouTube creator and self-proclaimed relationship expert, died at the age of 56.

Samuels was praised by his admirers for his honest, straight-talking approach to love and lifestyle material, which gained 1.42 million YouTube subscribers and an extra 1.2 million Instagram followers.

Others, on the other hand, saw Samuels as someone who had gained notoriety for spouting misogynoir, anti-fat rhetoric, and bullying content, contributing to a toxic online community. He coined the phrase “high-value man,” which has since become a catchphrase for a subculture of male-led podcasts spewing anti-feminism.

Samuels became famous in 2021 after many viral videos of portions from his web show, in which he gave dating advice that frequently turned into berating lectures. Samuels labels a woman as “ordinary” in one of his earliest popular videos, and challenges a caller about the size of his penis in another.

He labeled the modern woman as a “party of one” with an inflated sense of self in one of his widely preached speeches, and he held his sharpest judgment for Black women.

“How can Kevin Samuels keep his platform when it’s built on the backs of the women he despises?” In an opinion post for the Root, Candace McDuffie called for Samuels to be held accountable just days before his death.

Samuels, who has been divorced twice, recently labeled unmarried women over 35 as “leftover” women.

“”If you’ve reached 35 and are still single, you’re a leftover lady,” he stated in a video. “You are the only thing left.” Men are well aware that something is wrong with you.”

After making an appearance in Future’s song video “Worst Day,” the image consultant appeared to get a nod from Grammy winner Future. The coupling was termed as a “toxic all-stars” gathering.

The rapper later admitted to GQ magazine that he was unaware of Samuels’ material and would not have let him appear in the music video if he had known, calling the prank a “typical move.”

Fans and critics have reacted to his death in different ways online, sparking passionate debate about his legacy.

One Twitter user said, “Kevin Samuels built a career out of insulting women and enforcing oppressive gender stereotypes, and now you expect us to take the high road when we find out he died.”

“Many may agree or disagree with what you say, but you have lived your life in accordance with your convictions. I enjoyed watching/listening to your live videos while working on art during the day and late at night, so it’s only fitting that I create something in your honor. Thank you for your guidance, jokes, and entertainment,” artist Bomster Foo wrote in a graphic commemorating Samuels.

“When you consider that Kevin Samuels died in the same state he warned black women would be in – old, lonely, and unhealthy – you begin to see that perhaps all of his ranting and raving was nothing more than insecurity projected at the people he believed were the source of his problems,” another wrote.

Before asking with anybody who had ever benefitted from Samuels’ video to avoid ruining his name, fellow YouTuber and friend Anton Daniels characterized Samuels as a “genuine friend” who had shown him a lot of affection.

In a YouTube video, Daniels says, “I don’t have any words to explain how much I truly, really appreciate what you’ve done for me personally and what you’ve done in my life.” “And I truly appreciate you, bro,” she says.
