Arcane Season 2 Release Date: Are We Getting It or Not? Know Here!

Arcane, a Netflix animated series, premiered in November 2021 and became an instant hit with its intriguing story (and one hell of a cliffhanger ending).

Since then, fans (and ourselves) have been eager to learn everything there is to know about the show’s future, season two, and beyond.

Thankfully, we finally have some answers, and while we know it will be a long wait, we know it will be worthwhile.

Arcane explores the genesis stories of individuals from the utopian city Piltover and the oppressed undercity Zaun, including sisters Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Jonathan Pryce) (Ella Purnell).

Steinfeld, of course, has since joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kate Bishop, a teenage want tobe superhero whom Hawkeye takes under his wing. She was highly praised for her performance in Dickinson, in which she played a young Emily Dickinson.

She was less well-known when Arcane creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee engaged her to play Vi for the first six years of the show’s production.

“The folks we decided to work with in many cases were not quite as big at the time as they ended up being,” Yee told One Esports.

“It was amazing to see a lot of the talent we choose to work with over the years crop up in a variety of media and projects,” Linke added.

Jinx is voiced by Ella Purnell, who recently wowed audiences with her performance in Yellowjackets. “In the game, we all know who she is,” Yee remarked. “But we really wanted to give her this other layer, to see this nuance and actual human behind Jinx’s huge, brilliant, flashy façade, and I think Ella did a fantastic job with that.”

So, what’s in store for the series, and who will make a return? Here’s what we’ve learned so far.

When will the second season of Arcane air?

Arcane Season 2 Release Date: Are We Getting It or Not? Know Here!

Arcane’s second season will begin production in November 2021, according to Netflix.

The original series took six years to develop, according to Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent, but he vowed in a tweet that the wait for a second season would be shorter:

However, accelerating a six-year process is not going to be easy, so please don’t expect it until at least 2023. (at the earliest).

“We’re beyond delighted about the good reception to Arcane’s first season,” co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee said. “We’re working hard with the creative magicians at Riot and Fortiche to deliver our second instalment.”

Season one featured a unique format in which three episodes were released at once; you can anticipate season two to follow suit once it airs.

Yee claims that (via Superpixel). “In terms of a release timeline, this was a concept that we had early on. We planned the tale around the concept of having triplets. Every three episodes, you feel like you got a solid portion, and the third episode usually has some huge moments.

“With shows that are more in the half-hour range, I believe that having just one every week doesn’t give you much to chew on. Then, if we release everything at once, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you can watch it.

“Riot also wanted to make this an event, with the potential for fans to gather and speculate, as well as tasks and missions from the games that could be unlocked while watching. We got the best of both worlds with this schedule. You won’t have to wait long to see everything, and each time we release a new episode, there should be enough content for you to feel like “we got to sit down together and have a whole viewing experience.””

Here’s the Tweet by Arcane

The teaser contains no new scenes, only dialogue, but the most important part comes at the end: Arcane fans believe they can hear the mechanical heartbeat of League of Legends champion Warwick, a part-werewolf, part-machine who has no recollection of his life before being experimented on in scientist Singed’s lab.

There’s no word yet on who will play Warwick if he is added to Season 2, but stay tuned for further information.

What will happen in the second season of Arcane?

Season one’s closing episode was certainly dramatic, leaving several plot strands to be explored in season two.

Because Silco was assassinated, Zaun is without a leader, and it’s unclear who could take his place. Vi, as the adopted daughter of Zaun’s late leader, Vander, may have to step up because potential contender Jinx is out of control.

Meanwhile, Jinx wreaked havoc at the end of the episode by pointing a rocket launcher at the Council building, just as those inside were voting to enact a legislation granting Zaun independence. Her rage could spark a war between Piltover and Zaun, and it’s unclear whether any survivors of the explosion will be able to prove that the vote for independence was successful.

Jinx isn’t going to be reunited with her sister Vi anytime soon, either. Vi wanted to mend her connection with Jinx, but seeing your sibling shoot a rocket into a crowded building can be difficult to overcome.

For future seasons, Reed Shannon has some plot ideas (via CBR). “Ekko and Mel interacting would be fantastic. That’d be insane… One aspect of Arcane that piqued my curiosity was that, despite the disparity in wealth, and the disparity between the top city and the Undercity, race is never acknowledged between the characters.

“So I’m curious to watch how people that look alike connect. Is there anything like that, or is everyone just there? I’d also like to watch them communicate because Ekko is so clever, and she would say something like, ‘Oh, you might be utilized…’ We could take you back to Noxus and let you construct whatever you want.’ That would be quite fascinating.”

It most definitely would. Shannon might even get to watch his dreams come true on the big screen.

Linke told Superpixel, “We want to convey more stories.” “Whether it’s a TV show or a movie, there will be more things we want to look into. We didn’t indicate from the start that we wanted it to be a TV show or whatever, comparable to Arcane. We simply said, “OK, we like these characters.” This is the story we’re going to tell.’

“Then we realized that we needed the length of a TV program to get as deep as we wanted to – Vi and Jinx, Victor and Jayce, and so on. However, there may be a plot that is told in a movie format at some time. When I truly get into this, I believe we have big ambitions to tell a lot more stories. Yes, I believe there will be.”
